Come join us, we've set up an IRC server!

irc.macnn.com

#macnn, #appleinsider, and #team are currently running.

(Now you guys urging to post one-liners can do so on IRC! Woo! )

You need to use an IRC application to connect; like Ircle or Snak.
Snak is better, IMO.

Forgive my ignorance. I don't really know what IRC even is, do I need something special to get in?

Thanks for any help

Oops nevermind, Thanks Cipher

No, just all the GUIs for IRC suck. I personally like the CLI like BitchX.

BitchX is definitely the best I have used (but that was a while ago on Linux). Is there an OSX version?

Right on!

Snak is more for people who are used to mirc... I tried it once...meh..

1. Go to ircle.com and download ircle.
2. Open ircle.
3. In the window titled inputline (some say it gets hidden under their dock sometimes...) type:
/server irc.macnn.com
/join #macnn

or you can substitute the "macnn"s for "appleinsider"

when you are type: /nick yournamehere

I agree, go to www.bitchx.com and get the OS X version.

1. Select the first item in the Connections window (assuming it is open, otherwise hit command-k)

2. Press "Edit..."

3. Put in your Nickname and username and Real Name if you want.

4. You can leave the password blank unless you decide to register so some fool can't steal your name.

Yeah Snak is a really nice App. Well worth the $19 if your on IRC alot. I used to use Ircle till I used Snak.. I went back to Ircle and realized how slow it was compared to Snak.
