Dell UK installing Firefox at a cost contrary to Mozilla trademark policy
In some very limited circumstances, Dell UK is charging users to install Firefox on some of its computers for customers.
The Next Web was told by Mozilla's general counsel Denelle Dixon-Thayer that the companies have no agreement and "our trademark policy makes clear that this is not permitted, and we are investigating this specific report."
Dell believes that it is in its right to charge for the install, saying that "the fee would cover the time and labour involved for factory personnel to load a different image than is provided on the system's standard configuration." Mozilla differs, and claims that its trademark policy prohibits such a charge.
