I'm trying to see some .AVI movies, but it's very slow to see a preview in Finder and Quicktime...
What's the best codec to Quicktime? 3vix? Divx? Can I install these two codecs?

I have found 3ivx to be the fastest for playback.

If you install them both then the divx codec will make variable bit rate mp3 sound in avi files play with out separate correction by the DivX Doctor 2 utility and the video will still be displayed by the 3ivx codec. Sort of the best of both worlds, as 3ivx seems to do a better job of displaying the video.

Thanks.
