I'm not surprised, the iPhoto interface works well and is simple.
I'm just surprised that they didn't pack it full of "features" and mess up the simplicity.

I've been using Picasa for a while now, it's really cool, fast too. Best thing though, is that it's free now.

If it remains free, i'd be surprised. I'm sure google didn't take it over to lose money. Either will be leveraged to sell ads, or it will become commercial ware. To me it looks like an iPhoto rip off.

Not sure about the iPhoto rip-off, since it's just another photo management solution. It is though, IMO, much better than iPhoto in some areas, especially speed. I need to spend more time with the correction tools to se how it does, but so far i's all good.

I hope it stays free, cause it was a pain when Apple made iPhoto part of the iLife bundle, ie. have to pay.
