Sorry this question seems totally stupid, but I just bought a lacie d2 160 gig hard drive and I don't know what I'm supposed to do. I hook it up to my computer and it pops up on the desktop, now do I just drag stuff into it or do I have to open up one of it's programs that it comes pre-installed with?

Yeah, just pull stuff over and it will get copied. When you want to turn your disk off, eject the partition(s) in the Finder and as soon as they're gone you can unplug the disk or turn it off.

You might want to partition the drive. Do that before copying anything onto it, because partitioning the drive will mean erasing everything on it. To partition you can use Apple's DiskUtility program or the stuff that came with your drive.

Normally it should work right away with OS X. I personally didn't even bother to take the CD out of the LaCie box since the disk worked fine as is.
