Appleshare hang... Just simply connecting to another OS X machine via Appletalk IP can take forever.

Damn, it's slow. And it won't even let me cancel the request if it's getting stuck. Sometimes even connecting to the ONLY other computer on the network can take as long as a minute and a half (from CMD-K all the way thru to finally seeing a mounted volume) or even 3 minutes. AAAARRRGGGHHHH!!!!!

Can we please have this fixed pronto? Isn't the finder meant to be multithreaded? And even if it can do that, can we at least have the opportunity to cancel the request?

[ three deep breaths ]

Ahhh. Much better.
Computer thez nohhh...

Dude this bug is NO WHERE near as annoying for me at least other apps are available during this proccess my machine can lock up for 5 mins and NOTHING is possible.

I vote modem bug first...

But if you don't use a modem it's not really a problem I feel...

Cheers Edd

I gotta say that the PPP bug isn't just for MP owners; my machine becomes unresponsive for about 5 minutes whenever I connect after having put the machine to sleep, and I've got a single-proc Gigabit G4/400. This is totally repeatable. VERY irritating. Luckily, I only need to connect when I take my G4 home for breaks from school, so it's not that bad.

Yes it's not just dual processor machines. Happens on my Ti PowerBook when it's been on for a day or more.

BTW, this effects all serial port connections not just modems. I have the same problem with iRDA on Ti PowerBook
