Try making yourself some finder windows backgrounds - you
will find all sorts of interesting effects can be had...

Don't know why more GUI sites don't offer custom finder window BG's.
I see more of them than my desktop in the course of a normal day.

Unfortunately, it looks like the funmac forums are down ATM (so I can't check your link), but if you're referring to your mod of Smooth Operator, then heck yeah. You did an awesome job by nix'ing the clutter. Sometimes, less is more.
Thanks for taking the time to do that mod!

Here is my first Snapshot offering to this forum:

http://www.spymac.com/gallery/show_p...29797&size=big

I would normally post this over at www.macsnaps.com but they seem to be down at the mo. Is it okay to link to a picture of this size? This may sound like a stupid question, but most people seem to link to tiny snippets of a picture or a tiny thumbnail. I always wondered why. No flames please. I'm sure there is a good reason. I just don't know what it is.

Details of this Shapshot are beneath the picture, but here is my setup anyway:

Mac: iBook G4, 933mhz, 640mb RAM, 60gb HD, Bluetooth, OS 10.3.3
Theme: NEOS 1.2.2 by Daisuke Yamashita
Apps: ShapeShifter, Konfabulator, iTunes 4.5, Backlight 2, Marine Aquarium 2, iPulse 2.

Kate Beckinsale Widget by me. iPulse NEOS jacket by me. Konfabulator Menubar icon and iTunes hex code modified by me.

What do you think?

Yeah. I don't know why that is. I scanned the image from the newspaper, so it might be colour showing through from the other side. Her legs also look a bit fat, which they're not. It's just not a very flattering photograph leg-wise. I might work on the colour and texture on the legs to get them to look a bit nicer.

[flame]

I may post an updated snapshot on Macsnaps when I have sorted this out. I hate posting on Spymac because of the sheer volume of gallery posts. 10 minutes after I posted this snap, it was 4 pages back! What makes it worse is that one person had posted 15 times in 2 minutes. Not only that, but all the pics they posted had all been posted by someone else earlier today. Perhaps they know each other and had their wires crossed, or parhaps it was just a coincidence. It is so annoying either way. Other people had posted images that have been posted umpteen times before. In general, most of the posts on the spymac gallery are utterly, utterly pointless. Stuff like: "Blurry picture of my knee", "a boring cloud", "my cat's left buttock". I wish they would filter some of this tripe. Most of the time the pictures don't even have any description with them. Nobody bothers to comment or rate anymore.

Spymac have an amazingly constructed, state-of-the-art site, but until something is done about the galleries, it is off my bookmark bar.

[/flame]

Hopefully Macsnaps will be back up soon.

Try to scan it again putting a black sheet on the back side of the page.
This should solve the problem.

I would, but I just spent 2 days cutting her out with a polygonal lasso! I'm not starting from scratch again! anyway, I think I threw the newspaper away. I do have the same picture from off the web though, although it's much smaller. I may just cut her legs out and do a bit of patching up...

Thanks for the tip though. I'll do that in the future.

Does your Kate widget do anything stimulating ;)
Or is it just another useless Konfabulator widget.

No, she just lays there. I am thinking of making her do something. Some of my other "girl Widgets" are mail checkers and stuff. For the moment she's just eye candy.

Yeah, I should. I've been spending some time trying to get theme all up to the same quality, and getting the code consistent and well formatted. I don't know much about the coding side of things, so a lot of the functionality of my Widgets has been acheived through trial and error or borrowing bits of Java and Applescript from other Widgets.

I thought of making one big Widget with lots of my girls in. I've got an increasingly large collection of girls at premieres. Seems to be the only consistent source of full-length shots of celebrities. I thought of maybe a Widget with 10 girls in that could change at random, or be chosen from prefs or something.

I promised to send you some Widgets didn't I? Just remembered about that. Watch your inbox!

You could consider making an Audion skin or two ;)

Haha! My God, Jordan is a rough old slag. I used to have that Audion skin.

I wouldn't make one myself because I would get no use out of it. I'd have to learn to make them first for a start. I can't even work out how to edit them! They're not packages, so I think you must need a specific application. Anyway, I don't use Audion. It's far too awkward to access a large library of music. I may well make an iTunes controller for Konfabulator though. I bet no-one's ever thought of that!

I am waiting for Arlo and Perry to release Mini iTunes Remote. Should be hopefully today, or at least this week. It has updated code to fix a few problems between Konfab and iTunes. I'll nick some of it's code and make a girly remote!

My iTunes modded in full:

NEOS skin with modified blue LCD, plus all the matching Hex modifications that we currently have worked out. That bloody playlist pane still bugs me!

The girl by the way is "Dominique" from the PS2 game "The bouncer. She is a Konfabulator Widget whose Jacket changes colour when clicked. (Something I made whilst learning XML and Java). Backlight runs my Marine Aquarium desktop in the background as always!
