I was going to post a pic of my cd and dvd labels, but I don't think lightscribe likes having it's picture taken! Very reflective stuff, turn my flash off and then it needs a longer exposure, so everything looks blurry.

Anyone have the internal version of this drive yet?
Is it bootable, Finder burning, iTunes, etc. friendly?
If so, I'm all over it. If not, I'll upgrade my Pioneer 106 to a 109 and consider a LaCie as an external, especially if the reported DVD graphics can be remedied.

I have the external model, but I have burned from Itunes, idvd, and toast - I'd be willing to guess finder burning is supported as well, but haven't tried it. But it appears that the newest version of toast won't let you make an audio cd. So that means I have to create mp3s from my audio discs before I can burn a mixed cd - sheesh.

Yes, I have the internal version. Once you install the lacie drivers, it can burn just fine from the Finder, iTunes, etc. And yes it is bootable.

Ok, here are some photos. I think they show the quality pretty well.
and here's a close up:
There is a little bit of shmutz under the title, but that is from friends with greasy fingers.

You are welcome. I will post again once I try a DVD. Sounds like people are having trouble with those too.

DVD label update: Okay, so I decided to find out for sure, so I opened the saved file for my DVD label, and without changing anything, I burned it on a Lightscribe CD rather than a DVD - worked fine and looks great. So there is something different about the Lightscribe surface on a DVD. I'm using Verbatim DVD+R that I bought from LaCie.
Anyone know of any successful DVD burns?

I need help: Does somebody has the "LaCie Lightscribe Labeler"?
Hello,
Is there somebody, who has got this program coincidentally and maybe could make it available? I make sure that it will be deleted after testing.
Backround info:
I´ve got a "HP DVD640i" in my Imac G4 and would like to know, if the program works with this Drive
Many thanks!
Ijoko

I burned my first dvd yesterday.....and it's fuzzy. also it lacks all of the subtlety and gradation in my original image. did you guys find that you need to up the contrast, and or convert the image to black and white?
damn.......... now I have to wait for another update

That's what I've been saying, but if you go to lightscribe.com and read the faq, they say it's the way a dvd is made, something about an extra layer of plastic.
So I'm dissapointed with that part of lightscribe, burn the exact same image on a cd and it will look great.
Hope there some way to fix it, but it doesn't seem so.

This is very dissapointing, about the dvd burning. I agree with the above posts.
HOWEVER HERE IS A WAY TO IMPROVE THE IMAGE ON DVD'S:
After you have burned a label once, eject and burn it again. It improves the quality significantly. I am re-burning for my 3rd time right now (the same DVD) to see if it gets better each time or if there is a limit.
It sucks but it is better than nothing.

It looked better each time. I gave up after 3 high quality burns. It is still not as good as a cd.
Let me know if it works well for any of you...

I just bought this drive today, and it seems that iDVD does recognize this drive without Patchburn. I haven't actually burned a dvd directly from iDVD yet, since the only thing I have to burn right now is already in a .img file, but iDVD's "Burn" menu is no longer greyed-out, and when I click it, iDVD begins encoding the project.
