Probably a rumor, but I heard that there is (or there will be) an app that will be able to monitor your pulse rate and blood pressure while simply holding the iPhone in your hand.
Is that possible? Could it be?
: )

That's a good rumor. Pulse might be possible. Blood pressure--no way.

Our group is working with others to expand health care into more remote communities. I seem to remember - will have to check - that one of the custom devices we are testing is a BP cuff that interfaces with a cell or Internet connection. (Plus blood analysis etc) The data is logged x times daily and only flagged if variation abnormalities turn up.
Very cool stuff.
