He would have had better luck just attaching some frickin' laser beams to their heads.
Super-troopers: Stalin wanted Planet of the Apes-like troops, insensitive to pain and hardship.
Mr Ivanov's experiments, unsurprisingly from what we now know, were a total failure. He returned to the Soviet Union, only to see experiments in Georgia to use monkey sperm in human volunteers similarly fail.
Yeah, I'm sure they volunteered of their own free will.  I mean, who wouldn't be up for giving birth to a chimp?
I think I heard this story sometime earlier this year, but now with the new Kong film out I guess it seemed timely.

Today was Stalin's B-Day. Interesting fact that I found hard to believe, during the height of his power he ruled over more that anyone in history. Also put more to death.
