Enjoy playing it dude. Believe it or not, but im actually addicted to Wii Sports (Bowling and Tennis only).

I recommend Mario Galaxy.... it is in my opinion the 'Super Mario Bros' of this generation(people generations).

Also, seems like Okami is on schedule for an April release on Wii.... 480p widescreen, Wii controls, and thankfully the famous paper filter. I think this is one of those 'must haves'.

Had a question for the PS3 owners here...ive noticed some reports that some games actually require you to 'install' them (as in like with a PC game). is that true ?

Also.... i was thinking about the HD-DVD thing, and was wondering why Microsoft(Or Nintendo for that matter) buy the format and publish games solely on that format. I mean lets face it, DVDs are pretty easily pirated, and given the fact that BR-DVD won, it will eventually be cracked(there's more incentive to). But if one of these companies gets a hold of this format, they can control it by making it solely useable with their systems, and they get the storage boost without having to pay royalties to $ony. Just a thought.

I think Microsoft ought to get a XB360 out with built in HD-DVD drives.

It was....meh.

Yeah, it was OK. I still didn't get the same thrill out of it that I did with Super Mario 64. Still fun, though.

Ya me neither. I mean it was fun for 4 days but it was too short and easy as all hell. I can't imagine anyone still playing it 2 months after the fact.

Previous Mario's (minus sunshine) I played through over and over for years.

Spped Racer (Wii exclusive):

it's a movie tie in and a Wii exclusive...doesnt look too bad. looks like those futuristic racers...never played em, but i might check this one out.

Okami(Wii) coming out next week...a definite must-buy for me:

Usually i steer away from ports, but i think the upgrades they put into this game (resolution and gameplay) makes an amazing game that much better.

I'm glad there's a healthy supply of games coming to the Wii... the only thing missing from the library that i would like to see, is a GT4/5 type racing game.

Cheers

Has anyone here ever pre-ordered a game from Amazon? If so, how long after the release date does it usually take to arrive?

OMG.

Ok, a few things about that video.

1) Miyamoto did not invent videogames. They make it sound like he did. David Crane, anyone?
2) "The first jumpman"? No. Technically, Atari's Swordquest for the 2600 had the first platforming in it.
3) There was a game called "Jumpman" for the Atari/Commodore.
4) Zelda, as good as it was as a VIDEOGAME, owes a lot to D&D. Without D&D, there'd be no Zelda.
5) Temple of Apshai came out YEARS before Zelda did, and featured lots of things you could also do in Zelda which these dorks say Miyamoto invented.
6) Saving games in the arcade WAS done. There was a game, I don't remember the name, but you put in your birthday and your initials and you can pick up where you left off.
7) THE FIRST GAME WITH AN ANALOG CONTROL? Are they f*cking kidding? The entire Odyssey 2 line had analog controllers.

Nobody denies that Miyamoto influenced gaming, but come on, if you're going to a documentary, get your facts straight.

And I'm sorry, but the video looks like a bunch of videogame nerds with a man crush on Miyamoto sucking up to him.

Woah, i had no idea Nintendo made RockBand. And it's on other platforms as well !!!

As far as Mii support, online play and DLC... Nintendo really needs to get on board the bandwagon (not counting... Mii's, Nintendo's WiFi connection(for online play) or the Virtual Console and WiiWare(for DLC), of course).

Well Harmonix has stated that it's Nintendo's fault there's no online play or DLC, and that the console wasn't powerful enough to handle some of the features of the other systems.

Oh i'm in major MAJOR denial mate ! so entrenched in denial that i'll deny the fact that unit hardware and software sales on the Wii are far less than it's competitors, or that there are no good games coming out...that will just happen to sell millions (maybe Nintendo are the ones buying the games themselves, who knows ?) or the number of games coming out for the Wii, etc...

I'm totally delusional about what's going on in the videogame industry dude. All i know for sure is that graphics and horsepower make better interactive experiences.

Well apparently Nintendo doesn't think that internet connectivity and storage space is a big deal or they would have allowed SOME way of having DLC on the Wii.

Oh, SNAP!

Actually this makes Rock Band a good measuring stick. Since the Wii has a larger entrenched base, Rock Band sales should be superior to the 360 or PS3.

I found Jan. 2008 numbers for the U.S.

I'm trying to find something more recent. Why is it so hard to find U.S. numbers, but Japanese numbers come out every week?

Hardware Sales (in units sold)
Wii: 274,000
PlayStation 3: 269,000
Nintendo DS: 251,000
PlayStation Portable: 230,000
Xbox 360: 230,000

And Hawkeye_a's reaction:

Rockband on PS2/Wii and Rockband on PS3/360. They are two different products which carry the same name (ie: this is not a controlled experiment to gather stats). come on dude, ur so much older than me, even you should know that by now.

Had the feature set on both SKUs been the same then comparing sales figures would have make sense. I dont blame Nintendo if software developers port PS2 builds over(literally) to make a quick buck.

But sure, by all means, go ahead with your "analysis".

Speaking of sales figures.... congratulations to PSP for outselling the NDS for the last month or so. And congratulations to the NDS for overtaking the PS2's installed base in Japan.

PS>> i would never do that to my Mac , also a source/link would be great thanks. i know im so much more delusional/confused/fanboyish than you, but in your list isnt the Wii still number 1 ?

Wait, what? This is coming from the same person that tried to bundle two SEPARATE Pokemon SKUs into one product to make it look like the NDS was selling oodles more than everyone else?

Laugh.

Apparently, you skew the numbers only when it's in your favor.

That's actually my point entirely.
I've heard it argued that Nintendo knows what they're doing -- that they include the features people really care about, and the rest is more take it or leave it. So this is a chance for those Wii gamers to prove the argument true and go out in droves to pick up Rock Band. It's the perfect genre as its a very inclusive game, people-wise.

Oh i get what your saying.

So you are going with the assumption that Nintendo does not support DLC ? but Nintendo themselves are offering DLC. granted there is a storgae issue now because the DLC(at least on the VC) is friggon awesome.

Who do you think made the decision to not include DLC or online play in RockBank Wii. Nintendo or the RockBand guys ? Did Nintendo have any part to play in the making of RockBand at all ? or were the design decisions made by RBWii guys a mere afterthought to get something on the Wii ? There is no technological barrier keeping the Rockband guys from including both DLC(granted the limited storage, but storage none-the-less) and online play, they just chose not to put the effort into including it, and instead chose to port over the PS2 build.

I'm going with the latter.
