Hi all,

I enable tethering on iPhone.

I connect via USB to my MacBook Pro.

My MacBook Pro pops up a window telling me a new network interface has been discovered that I need to configure.

"A new network interface has been detected.

The "Ethernet Adapter (en6)" network interface has not been set up."

I go into Network Preferences.

The highlighted choice for "Ethernet Adapter (en6)" says it is not plugged in.

2 questions:

1. Why does my computer think that my iPhone is an ethernet adapter??

2. How can I get tethering working properly via USB?

Many thanks!

Scott

When you tether your iPhone to the Mac through USB the phone is acting as an ethernet adapter. That's the way it's actually supposed to act.

That's cool - but why does it say it's unplugged when it is connected and syncing has just happened etc.
