hi folks,
picked up my wireless keyboard mouse from the apple store soho.
the keyboard is exactly the same as the emac without the usb ports.
the mouse is slightly bigger with a hint of a tear drop shape to it.
the set up took 30 seconds.
functionality of the mice and keyboard are the same as the pro keyboard and mouse.
nothing earth shattering to report except it works as advertised and has no wires.
anything that eliminates wires i buy.

So how long do the batteries actually last?
|
Nasrudin sat on a river bank when someone shouted to him from the opposite side: "Hey! how do I get across?" "You are across!" Nasrudin shouted back.

i have been unable to find any literature on how long battery life is.
there is an on off button function that is recommended when not in use.
i guess when you go home for the night type of thing.
it's a standard aa size battery and the packing included energizer lithium batteries but you can use anytype.

1. i had my usb mouse and keyboard connected.
2. inserted and installed the keyboardmouse.pkg on the cd. restarted computer.
...did not install the bluetooth firmware...
must have 10.2.6
3. while my usb periphials were connected, i turned the switch on the wireless keyboard. green light starts blinking.
went into bluetooth under systems and clicked on setup new device.
searched for my keyboard and found it. prompted me to type in a set of numerals seven i think which i did from the wireless keyboard.
once i typed in the number from the wireless keyboard got a message stating the keyboard is now paried and working.
which it was.
4. i went back into system-bluetooth-set new device clicked on mouse and the mouse was instantly paired.
5. unplugged the usb pro keyboard and mouse and it's been working fine since.

one more thing...
i have a d-link bluetooth dongle...
i have two 17 inch apple lcd studio displays. the dongle was connected to the rear of my second monitor which is only a foot away from the wireless periphials and it didn't work.
so i switched the dongle from the rear of the second monitor to the rear of the first one which i sit directly in front of and then the computer was able to see the bluetooth device.
my suggestion is when you are first pairing and setting it up you have the dongle as close to the periphials as possible. i know it shouldn't make a difference but it did for me.
i'm also on an airport network.

The Apple press release says 3 months for the mouse, and 9 months for the keyboard. Not too shabby.
