Hi, whenever I download freeware through Safari, the system automatically puts the .dmg or .zip files in the trash after the download is complete. Is there any way to prevent this from happening? I like to store those compressed files and sometimes I forget that they are in the Trash before I empty the Trash. Thanks.

Turn off "Open 'safe' files after the download" in the Safari preferences.

Yeah, but what if you want them to open?

Thanks for the feedback. I have the same question...is there a way to have the files open, but still keep the .dmg/.zip files from being Trashed automatically?
