Recently I purchased the new Airport Extreme 802.11n Wireless Base Station and set it up on an out-of-state Intel iMac. Before adding this base station to the Mac I was able to control it from another state using Timbuktu Pro, but now I cannot. I'm sure it has to do with the base station's firewall, but I'm not sure how I can connect to the base station so I can turn the firewall off -- if it can even BE turned off. I tried typing in the IP address using connect to server, but that does not work.

I did set up WPA2 on the base station, but I have no idea how I can connect to it. Any ideas?

Open the Airport Admin Utility, click 'Other,' and input its internet IP address (not the internal/LAN IP) and password. Now you should be able to connect to it.

I know. I'm saying you can try connecting remotely to the non-local airport extreme in order to configure port forwarding to the Mac behind it. Just use the internet IP address that the airport extreme has.

I've tried using Connect to Server using the base station's IP address, but a dialog comes up Connection Failed.

Forget connect to server. Use the airport admin utility and the base station's WAN IP.
