Finally decided to upgrade to 10.10. I had been staying with 10.6.8 for the longest time prior.
Clean install on a freshly formatted SSD.

The scroll speed control is missing from the system preferences control panel for the trackpad. The tracking speed control is there and works. But I'm stuck with the painfully slow (to me) default scrolling speed for 2 finger scroll.

Where'd they move this to?

They decided to hide the scroll speed control under System Preferences/Accessibility/Mouse & Trackpad/Trackpad options/
