No fear of lost data (well, not much)... all of our servers are completely backed up every 2 days. I believe the copy of AI that will be restored is from the 21st or 23rd.

Misha~

Are they just not putting the time into this move and could care less when they come back up or are they having serious problems?

I beleive it's the first situation actually

No, there is no move. Our sysadmin is simply swamped with other tasks...

Aha, I knew it. They just have not gotten around to fixing the AI boards.

What I meant when I said move is aren't they moving it to a new box?

Hello everyone. As you may or may not know, you can still view individual threads at the AI forums. You just have to know the link (or have a bookmark of one of these topics). So we know that nothing has been erased.

Unfortunately, you cannot post or reply to these individual topics, and of course you still cannot get a listing of the topics. For example, here is a sample topic still alive at AI:
http://forums.appleinsider.com/ubb/F...ML/001894.html

(Yes, an old topic, I know.)

You can replace the 'Forum1' with the appropriate forum names.

Future hardware=Forum1
Future software=Forum2
General Discussion=Forum4
etc.

You can replace the '001894' with any number up to the point of the more recent threads. This of course, only works if a thread exists at that point.

I hope that the AppleInsider forums come back soon.

21st or 23rd? Hey EmAn, when did we have that really good discussion night?

I'll post back when I find what I'm looking for. I remember seeing someone who had the whole general discussion page HTML sitting on a different server to make browsing easier. Was it earlier in this thread?

Argh! Somebody took MacAddict already! Grr!

WE WANT AI BOARDS BACK NOW!

I can't believe I have a single digit post count... it's gonna take me days to get back to the quad digits....

And if they use the backupped AI from January 23rd I'll have like 1400 posts! Ahh!!!

I am yet to master the single sentence let alone single word replies. Must be the talkative urge in me...NOT! My climb to quad figures were from many sentenced posts to various topics (can't say that they were not rubbish BUT...)

Looks like Fran is the longest registered out of all us AI regulars here.

Weird things are happening.

First I clicked on my bookmark straight to the Future Hardware forum, only to be directed to a French site (MacGeneration). What the heck???

It seemed to be an apology for their forum being down. It worked twice.

Now however, it no longer directs me to that page, it just gives me an error. If you go to the Appleinsider homepage and click in that way, it lists the standard forum view, but all post counts are 0, and it gives you an error if you try to proceed. It looks like they are playing with it right now.

Well at least we're getting some form of progress. Now I get
orry, this bulletin board is temporarily unavailable, while we perform some routine maintenance. Please try back again later.
instead of the previous error (see my first post in this thread).
