You know were I built the egg machine in the ravine by the village, if you dig just behind that there's an underground pool just below the surface that I lit up because a zombie was annoying me. All those little caves like that are going to make getting my grinder working a pain. At least the ocean takes care of y60 -> y40.

Figures something like this, Notch is a great tinkerer but he doesn't follow through. Its that last 10% that gets you.

Jeb gets shit done. WHat I don't care for is he doesn't color within the lines (i.e., add shears to the game, they get a completely different recipe from other tools, no ability to make stone shears)

Since the game is out of beta, I'm guessing Jeb is just going to iron our the wrinkles.

And yes, adding stone shears, or at least making iron shears last longer than 5 seconds, would help.

I saw your new additions yesterday before I hit the road, sek. Didn't realize you had hopped back on for that long. I'm going to have to read up on the enchantment features.

I had some bursts of activity recently.

Surrounding the enchanting table with bookcases not only looks sweet but also makes the higher level enchanments possible, of course you have to reach those levels via XP first anyways. When you surround the table with books there is an animation of information being pulled from the books into the enchantment table, pretty cool.

I have a stockpile of books just waiting. I'm doing some improvements to my house, possibly a second floor... and making my basement less of a cave.

Linked with Jawbone at bedrock level after finishing my second Mineshaft, on the walk back I heard some splashing and mob sounds. Dug up a bit and ran into a rather large and lucrative set of caves punctuated by a sweet dome-shaped lava cavern.

Sweet jesus, is that the whole world or just a portion of it?

Also, this is nice to get a better bearing on how best to expand my empire.

The Obsidian Tower with the molten lava center sure gives your place away.

Two NPC villages that I can see?

I see three, another one up in the desert above the village. Someone has also created a ring of cactus up in that desert! NPC villages seem to fall on the same axis too.

I would say the compass direction, but it seems there's some misalign with the compass points between this map and the ingame map? I read that the ingame map, top was north (map is also flipped). On this map, that correlates to East.

What's the little house icon?

All the generated chunks.

Yeah the compass stuff is probably off. I can generate it at any of 8 orientations.

That's the spawn actually, I moved everyone so we would be at the SSP spawn point, there are buttons on the bottom right.

Where's waldo:
Exposed abandoned mines,
Andi's deserted island.

Break the bottom block of sand w/ a torch and then place it almost instantly. Too soon and they won't even start to fall.

Well I hit the jackpot.

Found my first dungeon just now, wait, make that first two dungeons. They were so close to eachother they were practically touching. One Zombie and one Skeleton pretty close to my mine. I'll need some input Blaze, but I think a dual grinder can be made if you stand between the two spawners.

The magic number is 16. Though what you would do with large amounts of zombie meat I don't know. You can build a XP farm out of the zombie spawned though not the skeleton spawner due to the smp hit box bug.

My biggest regret is my discovery and creation of a Skeletal Grinder happened after the game had peaked (and before the resurgence).

Well bows have been nerfed so arrows aren't the creeper counter they used to be. Before they rarely exploded if I saw them, now it happens all the time when I'm not in wide open terrain. (twice on top of the dome)

XP Grinder
An arrow grinder wouldn't need to be that complex because you don't need them mostly dead.

Yowza, that XP grinder looks pretty complicated, but I've got the height since both Dungeons are near bedrock.

There so easy to mass produce, better than bread, you can't stack mushroom soup, and I haven't planned a cow killing machine yet.

XP grinder and arrow grinder are working. Standing at the arrow pick up zone runs the Zombie XP grinder as well, but you have to walk over and kill them at the moment.

Okay my xp grinder is working. Though you have to punch the zombies 3 times. But if I make the drop 1 longer they die. I'll post photos tomorrow. I had to drop them then lift them back up. I'm not sure it its ravine 3 or 4 under it either.

That's the second from that server, are they running creative? Probably a editing plugin too to flatten the terrain like that.

I'm fairly certain it's set to survival, though I do know that they have Creeper damage set to 0. It's just a lot of people with a crazy amount of time and perseverance.

Screenshot barrage incoming.

From my first visit to the dome...

Arriving for the first time (you can see Blaze on the top left).

The hilarious egg grinder:

Blaze is a floater.

My castle at its earliest stages.

Progress.

A visitor on my scaffold.

The lava lake waterfall.

Andi's.

did you find my hidden staircase, or is that before I hid it?

Holiday events are keeping me from minecraft, I know if I logged in I'd never get all this stuff done.

I look forward to your army of snow golem. From watching my son play in creative, I can tell that it would be easy to create a snow farm with just a few of those guys fenced in!
