I have been pleased with firefox so far but I had been playing around with some of the g4 optimized versions. I liked the official version of FF better and have come back toit. But now the spelling extension does not seem to work. Is there a way to erase FF completely but keep my bookmarks?

This is what I've tried (with no success!)
-reinstalling spellbound
-saving the default folder and trashing FF then downloading it again and replacing the default folder.

If there would only be a way to take out the bookmarks and saved acct numbers and trash the rest of the default folder....and start again I think this would work.

Any idea's?

Your bookmarks are not stored as part of the application, so if you delete the app and put a new copy in its place, then when you launch the app again it should keep your bookmarks.

Sorry; I missed part of your post.

If you go into the default folder, you'll find a file called "bookmarks.html". That's the file that stores your bookmarks. Save this, delete the rest of the default folder, and let Firefox make a new default folder. Once that's done, quite Firefox and replace the new default folder's bookmarks.html file with your old one.

It is very important that you quit Firefox before replacing the bookmarks.html file. Otherwise, it will overwrite the file with the bookmarks it had when you quit it -in other words, the ones from the old bookmarks.html file- and you'll be stuck.

I don't know where all of them are stored, unfortunately, but you can get some of them from the file "cookies.txt". Same rules apply as bookmarks.html; make sure to quit Firefox before replacing the file.
