My hard drives have the default names (except for my external one):

Macintosh HD
Untitled (Boot Camp/Windows)
External HD

Question, can I rename "Untitled" to Windows or would that screw Boot Camp up?

You can rename it, yeah. If it's an NTFS volume, you have to do it in Windows though (just rename the volume in My Computer). If it's FAT32, you can do it in OS X.

I also have
"Media" - for my EyeTV recordings, mostly
"Backup" - for, um, backups
"Installers" - for backing up installers for 3rd part apps, and also a secondary backup disk.

The one I'm booted from now is called

Code:
TATLTUAE
Sorry, had to put it in code tags because the stupid board software thinks it has to automatically override all-caps expressions.

That "I am Jack's..." stuff kinda reminded me of MS' "My xyz" nomenclature. What's the "My" or "I am" necessary for? Of course they're my pics if they're on my computer.

What if it isn't your computer? Or if you were ever to hook up to a network with multiple users with shared picture folders? Or if you have a computer with multiple accounts?

As an everyday user, I'm not too keen on the term either. "Pictures" will do. As an interaction designer, I keep wondering if the term "Your pictures" wouldn't be better... :>

Hope you were jesting Simon. The 'I am...' is from Fight Club.

To Shecky, very funny, but perhaps something like "I am Jack's dysfunctional expression" for the printer would be more in keeping with the mood. Maybe "I am Jack's shameful pictures". "I am jack's anxiety" (for the backup).

Exactly! It becomes even more ridiculous when you browse a network volume and you run across 'My Pictures' which is actually a directory on a remote PC and contains somebody else's pics. Microsoft's inflationary use of 'My' is not just bloat, it's misleading.
