My lame-brained idea: I propose that tomorrow (or today by the time you read this), those of us who have access to digital cameras and web space to host them, take pictures of street scenes, offices, backyards, bedrooms, or wherever you are most of the day, and then roll them up here.

We can have a pictorial for a "A Day In The Life of the Loungers", sort of the way they have those coffee-table books. For size, try to keep the images all 400 pixels wide or less (use iPhoto to scale down if you have nothing else). That way the thread can accomodate lots.

I figure a day's advance warning is good for preperation. I was inspired by the fact that I wanted to share the spring city street scene outside my window, but I forgot my camera today... So, April 16th! What do you think? *gets ready for the abuse or apathy which invariably follows ideas of this nature*

Edit: Could a mod rename the thread "The Lounge "Take-a-Picture Day" Thread", so people can continue posting examples of a day of photos...

I'm also one of those that doesn't have web space! But I think that, "A Day In The Life of the Loungers" is a great idea. I will be watching for the phos's tomorrow!

I could host a couple pictures if you want to email them to me. Not sure when I'll be in tomorrow, but email them to me and I'll get them up sometime.

Are we looking for mostly outdoor areas, or action shots of specific people, or...? Pretty much anything goes, I suspect.

I have a picture that would work for this, but I'll try taking one or twenty tomorrow, too.

Sorry, count me out. I have neither a camera nor a place to host it. In fact, with my 56K connection, I could barely even view a thread full of pictures.

Well, that sure is a wierd coincidence. But let me add that those M.I.T. kids have A.S.P.I.R.A.T.I.O.N.S. -- where as we don't really know what we're doing from a goat's toenail. Ours will definitly be more fun!

I'm in!

In college, my photojournalism class did a "Day In The Life" project on a small farming community. The afternoon before, three carloads of camera-carrying college kids rolled into town. (That night, two car loads of kids cruised the small town looking for someplace to buy beer! ) We started at 5am and shot all day until just shortly past sunset. It was a long and tiring day, but worth every minute and drop of sweat. The local paper published the tabloid paper we put together. Very cool project.

So where's the pics. It's been the 16 April for ages here - do we have to wait for those tardy Americans to catch up? (No digital camera here unfortunately)

Wow, it's midday on the 16th and I'm the first one! My day off today, so I am at home.

My picture:

My girlfriend stayed at my place last night, thats her car in the picture. It's a picture of my street. Not too interesting, but we haven't gone anywhere yet!

Might edit later to put another photo of me and Kate wherever we decide to go today.

Here's my street this morning. The camera's straight - the power pole isn't.

The beach is just over that thar hill.

Blue sky. Typical...

We move into our new house in two weeks. I just found out ADSL is available there too. Woohoo! (I was worried there for a few weeks).

Thought about that but I've got 2 kids to wrangle and it's a bit warm outside. Mebbe later - I've been meaning to pop down there and make one of those panorama thingies that Mastrap has been doing.

I don't have a... um... garden at the moment. BTW: The house I've just bought has a very large shed with a very large lock on the door and an air-conditioning unit installed. The owner wouldn't let me see inside. I wonder what that's all about?

Oh well it's mine in 2 weeks.

Ok boring pics first! I have my camera, but nothing interesting to take photos of...typical!

No work for me today as my Powermac has suddenly given up the ghost! So I went to my parents house this morning to grab some breakfast (!)...

View of at least some of the road they live in:

Then this afternoon I have had to set a temporary work space with my trust roadwarrior iBook...

Off out now, so much more interesting pics later!!

Peace,

Marc

That hair is oddly disturbing with the little pino sig under it... I dare say it's almost offputting to continue a thread after such a creepy mass of short and curlies.

But onward I go!

Everyone's pictures are looking great so far. I hope we have lot's by the end of the day. I can't wait to get some of my own up soon (edit: I added some before lunch). It's about an hour to lunch time, and I've got my camera ready to go with me while I run a few errands...

Edit: Here are three from my morning batch

The Upper East Side... I choose to believe Henry Orient still lives in this cesspool (Lord knows I couldn't afford it).

That squirrel's got nuts of iron!

This thread is such a neat idea, and I loved looking at all your pics!
That being said, here is one of my desk..yes it is messy..

Part of our lot--it's like going thru a maze to get down to the main building:

This last shot is cool--my building at work butts up to the train tracks and we go out back there to smoke. The other day, we noticed a momma goose--who had laid her eggs right next to the train tracks! I have no idea how she is going to get her babies back to the water. We watch her everyday..kinda cool..

Ok, this is sort of a cheat, since the picture here was actually taken several months ago, but I saw a bunch of these same bags at the store today and I didn't have a camera. It's a whole line of merchandise here in Japan.
