Be careful, it might eat your Yorkie for breakfast when she grows up

What is with everyone here having a freaking pretend dog? God, half of these things would probably get attacked by hawks if you left them outside.

I understand why a lot of people have small dogs like Scotch terriers or whatever, because when you live in the city with a small appartment or townhouse, it is much easier to keep up after them. However, suburbanites with tiny dogs are probably emulating people they see on TV like paris hilton.

I hate small dogs. If they made one that was as intelligent and durable and fun as a big dog, maybe I'd change my mind, but it seems like most small dogs are yappy, have all that **** leaking out of their eyes, and they always look dirty.

Large dogs are unsafe, handle badly, waste resources and pollute more. I see thousands of people walking their large dogs when they could just as easily have small dogs.

Hey, I think you'd be surprised by a bulldog. They may be small but they are solid as heck. This little dog is like a tank. She is 5 months old but weighs 17 pounds. She's tough - she's like a little Mack truck!

i have had a negative attitude towards little dogs since a friend in high school got one - whenever i went over to his house the freaking dog would freak out and bark in that annoying ass bark.

I think big (standard) poodles can be really cool.

But the little ones can be annoying at times, yes.

I'm afraid of pit bulls and big dogs. Also, I don't think I really see the point in HUGE dogs like St. Bernards and Olde English Sheepdogs.

But, having said that, there are a lot of people who will say, "What is the point of a French bulldog?"

One of the smartest dogs I've ever had the pleasure to have come through our home en route to a new home was a border collie. That dog was wicked smart. On the other hand, this little Frenchie (the French bulldog) is also very smart. Today I taught her Come and Sit and No Bark and No Bite (or drop whatever is in your mouth.) She's got a lot of heart.

a friend of mine has a big ass chocolate lab - that thing jumps all over me when i go over to his house, seems kind of stupid to have such a big dog in the house - since i am a pet owner i can see how people can love their animals regardless of how big it is - all i know is some of these small dogs...i bet my cat could kick their asses

Since we're sharing doggie pix, I'll add mine. My family has always had a beagle or beagle mix. Our current one is a miniature beagle we found in a school parking lot (we thought she was a puppy until the vet told us otherwise). I don't know who owned her previously, but she's very personable and only barks when we come home or when we're making sandwiches -- and her bay is just what you'd think a beagle bay would sound like if it were shrunk down to her size.

Awwwwwwww!!

I had a tiny dog once. A pomeranian. That thing had the personality of ten dogs. My grandmother has it now. I gave it to my grandparents when my grandfather was dying because he loved the dog and the dog would just sit with him and "guard" him.

Now it's big dogs. Two of them.

First up, "Pete", a half Lab half Greyhound. Most awesomest dog on the planet. He may look mean, be he's extremely shy and docile:

Next up, "Isabel". Blue Merle Collie. She has short hair in this picture because we trimmed her after finding a few clumps that needed to be cut out. She's lying with a cat named "Steve" that we had to get rid of (pregnant women and cats don't mix).

And here's what they like to do more than even eating.

These pets are all so adorable, even the cats which I usually can't stand. I think little dogs are cute...except for chihuahuas they are just too annoying. My mother-in-law has one and he barks all day. Well here is another picture of my Loki when he is all grown up. He doesn't look like it but he weighs 50lbs.

Our first bulldog also had the same problem with the tear ducts in her eyes popping out. She looked so pitiful we had to get it fixed right away. Luckily we were able to have both her eyes fixed for a little over $200. ( We had a great vet. )

Why is it that whenever it turns into a pet thread the cat owners have like 50,000,000 pictures of their cats? The owners have no lives? DING DING DING!

Hey! That bulldog is GREAT!

Now, did you have his tear ducts removed or resectioned and replaced? Because the current school of thought is that if you can afford it you try to keep the tear ducts. The way we did it was this: The tear ducts were reduced in size, then a pocket was made underneath each eye, then the tear ducts were put back into the pockets, then they sewed them down into the pockets so that they cannot come out again.

If we were going to simply remove them completely that would run about $500 where I live. But, the current school of thought is that removing tear ducts completely will result in bad eye health for the pet later in life:

Read here.

That Loki is something else! Cute!

Oh, and hey? Sometimes the surgery that our little bulldog had doesn't work. If you did get his tear ducts taken out completely would you let me know how he did or does? Or PM me with the information? Because that might be the next thing we consider if this doesn't work - they seem to be great at the moment though.

It was actually done on another one of our bulldogs. From what I know, they didn't remove the tear duct but pinned it down I think. She had one of her tear ducts popping out so we brought her in for the surgery. While the vet was operating on her, she noticed the duct in the other eye was beginning to come out so she took care of that free of charge. She had a softspot for Nahli. Unfortunately, Nahli ran away a few weeks ago and we are still hoping for her return.

If those cats are that fat, is it unhealthy for them?

What do you feed them?

I give our dog(s) [there is usually only one being fostered at a time] Nutro lamb and rice kibble (it does not have preservatives in it) twice a day and mix things into it such as raw ground sirloin, boiled chicken, plain lowfat yogurt, and sometimes chunks of sweet potatoes or steamed carrots. They also like broccoli! (Steamed broccoli.)

I feed them weight gain 9000.... fatten them up so I can then eat them. MMM. Cat stew.

Cody: I'm just kidding. I Googled (Fat Cat & Obese Cat) is all. I have a dog whom is quite content, exercised regularly, because he's mostly posessed... and is given a lot of loves.

He's our wittle baby.

I bet there ARE some places where they eat cats?

I should Google that. (As an aside, notice that "Alta Vista" or "Yahoo" doesn't sound as cool as making a verb out of Google? Like, for an instance, "I just Alta Vista'd to see what I could find out," doesn't sound quite right. Neither does, "I Yahoo'd to see what I could find out." But, as a matter of opinion, I always find MUCH more when I do an Alta Vista search instead of Google but I like the way Google LOOKS more.)
