I am going to be acquiring a Dell Optiplex GX260 soon, but I cannot decide which operating system I should go for. The computer has a 2.0 Ghz Pentium 4 and 256MB of RAM (going to upgrade that right away). I am only going to use it for basic things, such as Office stuff and watching Netflix Instant videos. I do not want to invest too much into it, because I'd rather spend money on Mac stuff . It looks like I can get XP cheaper. I have Vista Home Prem on my MacBook Pro and I haven't had a ton of issues, so I don't really have a preference either way. I know this is a Mac forum, but I thought you guys would be able to lead me in the right direction.

Go for at least 1GB RAM and Windows XP.
I wouldn't consider Vista on anything but dual core CPU.

If you have the GPU for it, and 1-2 GB of RAM, you should be fine.

Do you have a reason to run Vista? Do you want to use the media/etc apps that come with it?
