That happened to me with 1.27 only. Does pressing esc or return take you out of the white screen? The white screen is Q3 initalizing OpenGL, so you might want to uninstall and reinstall openGL.

It sometimes happens to me when the graphics card is too hot (especialy in my Cube). Try restarting or try after the computer has been sleeping.

If it doesn't work try this:

Open this file in TextEdit:

~/Library/Application Support/Quake 3/baseq3/q3config.cfg

Find and replace the line:

seta r_mode "x"
to
seta r_mode "3"

If the file/folders don't exist create them and a file with that line of code.

That starts the game in 640x480 res.

your q3config.cfg file is in the BaseQ3 folder of your Q3 install.

i don't understand why everyone has sow much trouble installing Q3 of os X, i did it with peecee version, with no problems at all, maybe if you want , read how i do it...

Just make a "Quake 3" folder in you applications, then in your quake 3 folder you make another one called "baseq3", copy pak0.pk3 (about 450megs or so) to that folder.. + all the other .pk3 files you have on your q3 cd , install os X patch 1.31, do not copy cfgs , let os x app make it for you when boot q3 os X for the first time.. it has always worked that way for me...

i think the "real" problem occurs when you try to connect to a multiplayer game... i got some stupid 'impure' client/server problem when i tried connecting to a lan game.
anyone know how to get about that?
