I think it's hilarious that my base 2nd gen iPod Tough has the same amount of memory as the current base model.

Was it my imagination, or was that a really tough room, and was Steve constantly leaving openings for applause breaks which never materialized?

Well, it was a pretty predictable conference. I honestly don't think anyone cares that much about iPods or Apple TV anymore. Especially when we've seen the leaked cases and whatnot.

Nothing unexpected was shown.

If you expected a touchscreen nano (and everyone was) what we were shown was pretty much on the very low end of what you might expect to see. No apps, no accelerometer, no new compelling features based on the touchscreem. Just smaller. Meh.

If you were expecting an iPod Touch that was in line with the iPhone (and we all were) we got exactly that. What we expected. Meh.

The new Shuffle!!! It's just like the shuffle from 2 years ago but a tad smaller. Meh.

If you were expecting a $99 Apple TV with the iOS and an app store (and we were) then what we saw was really lackluster. A big meh.

All of the social media stuff on iTunes wasn't really compelling... and the new iTunes doesn't really have much else. No cool streaming from that data center, no web version, no new anything really. So more meh.

The iOS updates were also boring.

Rumors are making these events less fun, they are getting very accurate.

My sig is 1 pixel too big.

I find it weirder that people on airplanes applaud after touchdown onto the tarmac. At least Steve has presence and the RDF thing going for himself.

I think that the way the black bezel on the screen doesn't go all the way to the edge kinda makes the new nano ugly looking.

I'm not really "feeling" this thing. What does the touch screen actually add to the device? It doesn't give you a single new feature or ability and it looks like it's actually more difficult to hold and navigate. I mean, it's smaller, but the nano was already super small. This might be going too small.

Anywho, I also notice that the iPod Classic is still for sale. It was not killed off.

My sig is 1 pixel too big.

I've applauded once for a landing – because the pilot laid it down so smooth it took a few moments for everyone to realize we had indeed landed.

Ort, I sort of agree. However, I think once Apple can make the new nano cheap enough, bye-bye shuffle.

Before I forget was this the first time we had a commercial break during an event? I never watch the video, but I think it was kinda funny in a "Here's a word from our sponsors... Us!" kind of way.

It makes me laugh how jaded people have become. A machine smaller than your hands that shoots HD video and lets you talk to friends on the other side of the world, that holds thousands of albums and gives you access to the collected knowledge of humanity and what's the reaction?

Meh.

Apple TV is a no-go. Competition has USB ports so you can watch whatever's on your USB stick.

USB stick?

This thing will let you watch anything on your iPad (and probably iPhone, too, eventually).

It's an Airport Express for video.

On a small screen. Which is great if you want to watch a movie in bed, on a plane, while waiting somewhere. When I'm home I want to watch it on the big screen.

What's the difference between switching on a computer or a cable box? Or a DVD player, for that matter?
None.

My Mini is never really switched off, getting a movie to play i a matter of three clicks.

Really? This is the feature that's going to cause a ruckus?

Unless you were one of those guys going nuts because you couldn't output the iPad to a TV, BFD.

As for the Apple TV, the same limitations as before apply.

The iPod Touch was, and still is an amazing device... but this wasn't an amazing update. That's my point.

It's always been an iPhone without the phone. Now it's an iPhone 4 without the phone.

I'm just saying - you've got to be mentally deficient to buy an Apple TV when stuff like the Popcorn Hour is available.

It streams so i don't care about the lack of USB ports. I do however care that it doesn't have a broad range of video format support. Even at $99 there are still better options than this thing.

I hate it. I predict it will go the way of the fat nano.

To me this shows apple is trying to push people towards the iPod Touch and this is meant to deter further investments in the nano line. It may very well be a step towards doing away with it altogether.

So you're saying that the actual concept of streaming video over the air is pointless if the wifi can only manage 720p and the rest of your viewing hardware is already up to 1080p?

My £70 WDTV will do 1080. It takes about two minutes to transfer a file off the storage Mac onto a USB drive.

The whole thing is a fail. You watch.

Jesus Spheric, way to miss the point of my original post.

You know, I don't give a shit about you constant need to nitpick everyone, but I've really come to take issue with your becoming Steve's lapdog. Can anyone not buy the Gospel of Apple without you feeling the need to show them the Light?

TV and movie rentals. Netflix without Gold Membership for xbox 360.

It's quiet unlike the xbox 360 or PS3.
