My phone went through the wash today, of course it was the super dirty setting, so it was in there for close to 2 hours.

I'm on AT&T, besides the iPhone (which is a possible option) Do y'all have any other recommendations on phones?

.

I'll check out all recommendations, I'm not really particular. fashion < functionality

Thanks

you are on a mac forum, asking about phones, stating that the iphone is an option....

DUH iPHONE!

having the internet in my pocket is amazing, having gps in my pocket is even more amazing. seriously get the iPhone and join the bandwagon... the personal phone market will never be the same.

Assuming your 2-year contract has gotta be up, after 5 years? The minute you upgrade your phone on ATT, you're signed up for a new 2-year contract.

Here's what I did when I sat on my Sony Ericcson ATT phone last weekend, broke the screen, contract expired, because I wanted to wait for the next revision of the iPhone:

I bought an unlocked Nokia for $130 off amazon.com. Just slipped the SIM from the broken SE into the Nokia and it worked right away, no need to call ATT.

Yes, I could have upgraded to a refurbished iPhone. That didn't look too attractive with the next revision coming out soon.

Yes, as my little brother so eloquently said, I got an iPhone4 .

"having the internet in my pocket is amazing, having gps in my pocket is even more amazing."

I couldn't agree more. Also, having the app store is great.

example:
Today was rainy day schedule at school, kids stayed inside and all that.

One of the kids is a bit of a loner and was by himself, so I asked him what games he likes, "tic-tac-toe" He wouldn't play it with anyone, I pull up the app store, and find a free tic tic toe game. download it, and within a minute, the kid and I are playing tic tac toe together. After a couple of minutes, other kids grouped around, and under my very close supervision, the semi loner kid started playing tic tac toe on my iphone with other kids, and was having a blast!

gps:
Which app do you use for that? I'm looking for an as you go direction gps.
How much data does it consume? (I got the 2gigs of data a month plan)

2 gigs is fine for just about anything short of being addicted to streaming media (and even then.) I have a 500 meg a month plan through Rogers (it's a very cheap plan mind you!) and most months I don't even go over 200 megs. Though I try and avoid downloading albums until I'm home on WiFi, but even then I don't think about it much.

GPS is very low on data, it's actually the loading of the maps that takes your data. For GPS I tend to just use Google Maps, BUT if you want turn by turn you can use TomTom or Navigon.

I've been reading it like that for days now, even though I pretty quickly realized the phone component of it all. Every time I reload the page and skim through the threads I reread it that way. I thought we had a major tragedy on our hands!

Damnit. Every time I see this thread title I somehow fail to see the 'phone' and think it's about a horrible tragedy.
