I'm not really sure what the point of this thread is other than to say that my broadband connection is dead.

It was working last night and I woke up this morning to find that my 5mbps cable connection was no longer functioning. After trying the usual -- power cycle modem, restart computer, disconnect router -- it still doesn't work.

For the moment, I'm forced to use a *dial up * connection that travels along at an astounding 2KB/s. It makes me wonder just how I lived with it for all those years before I had broadband.

Anyway, nothing to see here, so move along...

My provider is WOW! Internet & Cable.

They are "currently experiencing outages in my area."

I'm so sorry.
Last year my broadband was down for five days and I went around in the most agitated, foul mood I've pretty much ever been in. It was a problem with the wiring on the roof of my building, I guess the connector that took the signal for the whole building and split it off to my apartment rusted out or somehow went bad. My service had been problematic, both with my internet and TV, for a while and slowly getting worse. Finally when my broadband went down of course I called Time Warner and it was days before they could get a repair man over, but he replaced almost all of the wiring involved with both my TV and modem, and now both my TV and internet signal are better than they ever were. In the end I benefited from it, but those five days were dark, dark times.

Hope you get back up and running soon.

Maybe this thread will help you out.
I am very sorry for your loss, but a
few words of wisdom.

1. It wasn't your fault (Repeat this to yourself)
2. You have nobody to blame but yourself.

This always happens to me back home (up here at college, my line is indestructible) and I feel your pain. Weird thing is though, when I'd call and find that there were service outages, they were never in my area. Our cable modem would just up and die whenever anyone elses did. Lemming.

go outside...get some sun...go out on a date with a woman...have a drink...make it a strong drink...you will be okay.

Thanks for the kind words, guys.

It seems that this morning everything is up and running again, but yesterday was awful! I was trying to upload files to my website yesterday and it was taking forever!

Oh well, all is well again. If this happens again, I'll have to order a T3 line. LOL
