So, a Dutch company is planning to establish a manned colony on Mars in 11 years and make a reality TV show out of it. It is a one-way trip for the crew; they will live out their lives and ultimately die on the red planet.

Personally, I have mixed feelings about this. My love of space exploration and history-making is offset by my hatred of reality TV (need I mention these people are doomed never to walk the Earth again?).
I have a sneaking suspicion that Mars One will never come to fruition, the result being a few million or so of the 6 billion dollar fundraising goal to mysteriously disappear when the project is disbanded. Mars is hot right now, but given people's fickle tastes, would you ride the future of human lives on funding from a reality TV show?
