these phones are high efficiency/low impedance which allows them to run well unamped from whatever source you want to use. for iPod users, the E2c has a solid bass, which works well with the slight bass roll-off that the ipod suffers from. these canalphones are a huge upgrade for standard, non audiophile phones, and much better than most consumer canalphones such as the sony EX-71. i have feedback under "EdipisReks" on both
