They're both nuts, one just happens to be gayer.

See, most ISPs in the US have crappy bandwidth, but at least there's no bandwidth limits per month

Either that a) he is jealous (which I doubt) or b) he really just flat out gets off on starting flame wars and picking fights (on the internet. of ALL PLACES.)

I would agree with that.
The beaches in the US suck compared to white sand, blue water beaches.

Without the USA, how many Canadians would be on the internet ? ANSWER = Zero - There would be no internet without the USA. All internet users and USA haters can also thank the mighty US military for the development and funding of the internet.
A higher percentage of Americans are on the net than Canadians.
User growth in Canada from 2000-2004 = 61 %
User growth in the USA from 2000-2004 = 111.5 % - - - almost double the Canadian growth rate.
Population penetration (sounds dirty) in Canada = 64.2 %
Population penetration in the USA = 68.8 %

LOL you left out one thing, most of the US network was built by Nortel Networks, almost all of your backbones are from Nortel, which happens to be Canadian.
Canadians have had access to cheap high speed internet for most of the country for years. Our Internet, Our Cable, Our Cell phones are all cheaper, better and pretty much every one can access it.

Hey, he didn't say they did good. He just said they did the networks.
That whole sector hasn't been doing particularly well.

Countless others have gone the way of the Dodo bird but Nortel keeps clawing to stay alive. But who knows how long that will last.

So in other words, you compensate for real life by pissing off people on the internet. Entertainment by pissing people off, mature. We should deport you somewhere with no internet access. Maybe then you can confront the true silliness of your attitude.
No wonder everyone here hates canadians. Most of the posters known as canadians are asses.

Ya everyone here hates Canadians Travel (not just to florduh) and see what they think of Canadians. Most Americans when traveling sew Canadian flags to their backpacks.
At the same rate travel (outside of the US) tell people you are an American and see where that one gets ya.

Obviously not all do, but it is true that many do. When I travelled Europe, there were a ton of Americans disguised as Canadians.
Some found holes in their bags where the flags used to be, not because they were american, but because I was affraid they'd misrepresent Canadians.
Girls tended to get away with it though, they need to be safe and avoid undue harrassment however possible.
...wait, wasn't this about broadband before?..

Ahh, don't you love the smell of the average Lounge thread in the evening ?
US bashing, Canada bashing, some occasional belief-bashing, faboys, "projection", derailment, attempt to bring it back on topic, failing of that attempt etc.
That's why I like it here

YOU DON'T GET IT
I really can't think of anyone here who hasn't at some point undoubtedly thought to themselves "holy smokes, this guy is a total asshole!". It isn't that we hate Canadians, it's just that WE DON'T LIKE YOU. And you sure as hell don't do a bloody thing to make anyone here like Canada, but as I said, you aren't the all-powerful embodiment of all things Canadian. But for what you do represent, you do a flat out atrocious job at it.
And it isn't even a matter of politics or religion, hell there are plenty of people (though not enough) that can hold a honest debate with no name calling. But with you, it seems like your only angle is that you agitate and irritate anyone that comes in your path, AND MOST OF THE TIME YOU INSTIGATE IT.

Agreed. The guys from Bare Naked Ladies are a nice bunch.
I had a Canadian in my wedding party. Actually, she was born a Russian Jew, but defected to Canada and then denounced her Canadian citizenship to become American, but that is beside the point and a really long sentence to boot. Eh?
Back on topic: In my little backwater urban town we have our choice between TWO competing cable companies offering 3 Mb for about $35 and DSL available for a little bit more. Plus satelite. That's four major broadband sources in my little "US behind in broadband" area.
Maybe we aren't behind so much eh?

4 isn't a big number. around here(in a city with a population of about .5 million) i have way more providers. but two cable company's is rare as most have a monopoly. satelite is available everywear and adsl is in almost every town big enough to have its own telephone company base of operations.

replace "canadian(s) and canada with american and america" and it would apply to quite a few forum members here. funny how that works.

"New IP services such as VoIP and IP video are driving the push to higher broadband adoption, and 50% of U.S. households will subscribe to broadband access by 2006, according to a report from Technology Futures, Inc. (TFI). Despite this, the U.S. lags a full generation behind countries such as Japan and Korea in broadband acceptance and use, it adds."

I am embarassed to come from the same country as many of these "Amercians". I love my country, and I take pride in the ideals that it was founded on, but that does not mean I put down other countries every time they say something good about themselves. Canadians are allowed to have Canadian pride too.
So Canada has better high speed internet. Big deal. That doesn't mean the U.S. is any less of a country. There are also close to 20 countrys in the world that have better medical care. This is still a great country regardless.

The reaction to this has been rather sad and predictable. It is like boys comparing penis size.
Canada has more widespread broadband:
"No US invented the internet"
"Mine is faster"
"It's not true, ours is better"
"Canada is cold"
Bla bla bla.
Embarrassing

You're from Berkeley, I'm not sure if that qualifies as part of the USA.
You're also missing the whole point. Mr. Canadian StarWarsCreep, who constantly posts anti-USA crap, changed the title of the article he linked to from "Broadband use in USA doubles" to "US behind in broadband". He's nothing but a weenie little instigator. Check the link for yourself.
