What did you think of the premiere last night? I think this show ought to be great, at least based upon its strong start.

Here's a clip of the debut show:

BTW, anybody else notice that this clip is poking fun at Bill O'Reilly?

The entire show is a take-off on o'reilly. The show was awesomely mediocre, partly for that reason.

O'Reilly is already a parody of himself, there doesn't need to be another one. If someone had said that to Colbert before it was too late, I betcha he would have realized it and gone with originality instead.

Oh O`Reilly doesn`t need to be made fun of. He makes his own comedy just by talking. I can`t believe that people actually take him seriously any more, or that Fax would put up with him as a liability.

Are you sure that the entire show is designed to be a take-off on O'Reilly? I had heard that Colbert was going to parody many other news shows too. To me, the whole idea of a very egotistical and pompous news guy that throws in several witty remarks has the makings for a pretty good (and original) series.

I guess we'll just have to wait and see....

Not a perfect show, but a stronger start than most; probably better than the start of Daily Show Craig Kilborne or Daily Show Jon Stewart.

He said so a couple months ago, and to me last night it was apparent, anyway.

But whatever it is, I hope it works because I'm a fan. I just think it'll get tedious if he sticks to the o'reilly thing.

Speaking of O'Reilly, he was on the Daily Show tonight. Did anybody see it? That was probably the most conflict that I've ever seen in an interview on that show, but I thought that Stewart handled him pretty well.

It's pretty hard to respect O'Reilly, he's just over-the-top (even if I agreed with his views, I'd say the same).

I liked the second one a lot! Missed the first.

it definitely seemed he was parodying something and everything, but not having ever seen OReilly I may have missed something.

Amusing, but not sure if it's season-pass worthy yet.

Heh. I haven't seen it yet, but it's waiting on the TiVo. It looks like I'll have to pop some popcorn for the interview!

And I can't bash Mr. O'Reilly too much, even though I can't stand his show, since I think we have a common ancestor somewhere back in the midlands of Ireland ....

So far my reaction has been pretty luke warm... and I'm a huge fan of both the daily show and Stephen Colbert.

I'll keep watching, I'm sure it will grow on me.

Yep. That was the first thing that came to mind when I saw it.

I love that Ebaum's video of "Jack Mehoff" writing in to O'Reilly.

Great episode tonight. The Barney Frank interview was ridiculous. Colbert very well may be the best. Please tell me someone else caught the interview...

That interview with Jeff Daniels was weird. It was funny, but it seemed like Daniels wasn't all that thrilled with the questions.

That was the only part of the show that I caught. I thought it was pretty funny. I'm sure Jeff Daniels wasn't wasn't expecting all those questions from his local newspaper. That was kind of brilliant on Colbert's part, imo.

I've never watched O'Reily, so I don't know about the comparison, but I read an interview with Colbert a few weeks ago where he mentioned that was the tact the show would take.

He's still Mr. Noblick from "Strangers with Candy" to me. Oh, and a lousy Mr. Goodwrench.

Yeah when he was interviewing Lou Dobbs, he said "you're my first guest who has a Peabody Award. Oh, wait a second....I have a Peabody Award" and then the camera zoomed in on his.

I really like this show. It's a great followup to the Daily Show, and I hope they keep it around.
