What a great review. I'd like Google to go *** themselves...the fewer Google apps the better.

It's a mini-review. I inferred from his post that he liked and recommended it.

I suppose knowing why he likes it could be helpful.

group hug time everyone!

Proper relative positioning of locations.

Also known as the one job of a map.

Google's maps are very readable due to the manner in which they present cities and other items on them. Bing does the same thing and doesn't bog my (work) computer down...I don't cross pollinate so I use Bing maps and Bing search exclusively as I've grown to like and trust Bing.

Remember to uncheck that "Share anonymous data" box when you first launch Google Maps.

I installed GM on my phone's iPhone 4. Works great. However, it really seemed to suck the battery down quickly.

...
Is that next to the "Exfiltrate my data to the Google/Borg mothership for analysis" checkbox?

That's one of the advantages of Bing!

Microsoft doesn't want your data.

That, or they simply don't bother asking your permission.

More likely it'd crash they're servers with a message like, "Microsoft has detected your data and must restart server farm for changes to take effect."

You must update your Restart Updater before Microsoft Server Farmâ„¢ Updater can restart.

I find that the new Google Maps' search doesn't seem to be on a par with its previous incarnation. I searched for "parking downtown san antonio" and got all sorts of hits that had nothing to do with parking, but a few about "Olmos Park," a small city within San Antonio's city limits - and nowhere near downtown... I'm also not thrilled with the "look," I guess because it doesn't look like it used to.

I'm happy that I get free voice navigation on my iPhone 4, and the search is worlds better than Apple's Maps app, but there are still some bugs. Google's voice guidance announced that I should take the "G West Bridge" instead of the George Washington Bridge and then shortly later instructed me to take the "Harlem Riv Doctor" instead of Harlem River Drive.

One major issue I have with the app is that it doesn't pull data from my address book and autocomplete based on it. It doesn't even autocomplete previous entries. Maybe it would work better if I was logged in to my google account, but that isn't something I want to do and shouldn't need it for this feature.

Your results were a bit better than mine. The Market Street parking garage is really close to downtown, while Ace and Enter Park have multiple locations "near" as well as in downtown. Kind of confusing, the way the dots on the map are just there, without reference to the listings below (no numbers, etc.), don't you think?

It makes sense to me since you can't see the map view and the list view at the same time.
