Another annoying problem I've now encountered since updating to OS 9 is that my application icons have turned to the Mac generic icon (hand scribbling on paper).

I've actually seen this happen on older systems, but was wondering if anyone knows a fix and exactly why this happens. I'm going to rebuild my desktop now and see if that helps.

Thanks,

This usually happens because the desktop file becomes corrupted.

If rebuilding the desktop doesn't work, use Disk First Aid, Norton Utilities, or TechTool Pro.

If that doesn't work, try a clean install.

Adam,

Thanks for the advice. I rebuilt the desktop and that worked. I'll try your suggestion if I have continued problems.
