Guy started banging on the emergency exit, screaming he was locked out.

The stages were...

1) Maybe it’ll go away
2) It’s not going away
3) Someone moves to open the door
4) Someone else goes “no, no, no, no, don’t do that”
5) Everyone decides to split at once

Security came, and we all filed back, but the proceedings had been somewhat dampened.

It sounded like a drunk, homeless guy, but the theatre was on the 6th floor of a mall. One of the burning questions is where did that door even lead?

If something had gone wrong, it would have been very bad news. I was far enough back I couldn’t tell directly what was going on, but I’m pretty sure they weren’t letting anyone out. We got to about the end of our row, and then no one could move any farther.

Sensible answer: a stair leading to an outside door. Which is normally locked from the outside.

Movie answer: a jump shaft down to the secret level.

Unfortunately, finding out would lead to a conversation with the nice security guys. Especially if it's answer #2.

less crazy but still stupid answer:

someone arrived early for the movie
popped out the emergency exit for a smoke/nip
stupidly realized he could not get back in
even more stupidly did not just go round the front again with his ticket.

I kinda want a little background on PUBG vs Fortnite.

I get the feeling there’s a touch of the Goat Simulator in PUBG, while Fortnite is Xtreme.

I meant, more in the sense of where that outside door is. Did he get in from street level and climb six flights of stairs, banging at every door on the way up, or does this door lead directly to the upper floors of the parking lot.

It was the new Wes Anderson movie, though.

It's a story that writes itself, then.

His girlfriend was one of the crowd filing out with you, not wanting to admit she knew him. She will then break up with him via text. He will soon be arrested for drunk and disorderly in the middle of Urban Outfitter.
