I finally saw it as well... although the subtitles were in Spanish, I doubt I missed much, the English dialog was horrid so I can only imagine the non-English stuff was just as bad.

Special effects were awesome, so I'll concede it was worth the 5 bucks but seriously, it was an awful story.

My favorite bit was how when the entire earth is collapsing in on itself cell phones all around the world are still operating just fine.

It's almost tragic that one has to have such low expectations for a $250,000,000 movie.

Plus it shows they don't have to try any harder in any future movies as it seems though even though it gets horrid reviews and people go with no expectations as long as you put a ton of money in special effects into it that will satisfy simple folk as you take all their money.

It is really sad. I almost go into theaters these days expecting to be disappointed. That said, I RARELY goto the movies, and instead opt to either rent from Netflix or Red Box.

$1 to be disappointed is a lot less painful than $20 (tickets, refreshments, etc.)

I think it's more tragic you guys go see it in the theaters when you have such low expectations. You're getting what you deserve.

Maybe I misspoke.

I don't have high expectations, but I do expect to be entertained. Nevertheless, when I am disappointed with any movie relating to story, plot development, ACTING, and BAD ENDINGS (my pet peeve), I chalk it up to the fact that 90% of the time, Hollywood disappoints (me). Maybe others have a different experience.

As mentioned, I rarely go to the movies, but instead do most of my movie watching at home where I have a subscription to Netflix, or Redbox if I simply can't wait. Lately I tend to rent more foreign pictures, more independent productions (they can also be spotty), and more Oscar-Sundance-Cannes type nominated stuff.

That wasn't aimed at you specifically. Just anyone in general who's like: "I went to see this, it's too bad it's as bad as I thought."

The thing that bothers me is if studio's came out with a really bad movie (Saw #whatever) and it didn't make any money because people wouldn't go it they would try harder next time.

This way they see they can throw any old crap out and make a ton.

Demand higher quality and don't give them the money for crapola.

I've never seen any of the new star wars movies. I never saw any of the transformers movies, except a burned version of the first one which I turned off after 40 minutes. I won't see 2012. Overall I feel I have a pretty good "standard" and that kind of crap is NEVER good.

Lets pray but I doubt it. The first one at least tried but now they can just give up as it makes money either way from the hype and the hope.

Transformers 3 won't suck like Transformers 2 did. Trust me.

Well, it's comforting to know that if Transformers 3 does suck, there is always Transformers 4 to look forward to.

The geek quad online totally demolished this movie, and i sadly bought into their crap. I finally went to watch this movie yesterday, and i liked it.... definitely worth watching in theater. Admittedly the "movie making" dimensions were kinda week(notably the script), but we're not talking about the Godfather here.....

I put Independence Day, Armageddon, League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, Deep Impact, etc...in the same over all genre. All 'mindlessly'(not in a terrible way) entertaining, and 2012 is the best thus far.

This movie has summer blockbuster written all over it, i wonder why they choose to release it this late in the year.

If you're wondering if it's worth going to see this movie in theater, stop wondering and go see it.

I hope you have another special category for films like The Core. There's a film in a league of its own.
This space for Hire! Reasonable rates. Reach an audience of literally dozens!

I finally got a copy from the store, just rented it. I made it halfway through and stopped it. This was the worst movie ever made.

Damn that was horrid. Don't waste what little time we have left with watching this movie. There is no point of having realistic effects when the situation is so overdone and hilarious. The same family rides the frontend of a shockwave from a volcano, earthquake, wave, 5 times in a limo, plane, camper, plane, bigger plane, boat. Most of those involved driving or flying through collapsing buildings. The director pulled a few new combos to keep it fresh of "Recognizable Object A (Aircraft Carrier)" collides with "Recognizable Object B (White house)" because of big scary disaster "wave, volcano, earthquake".

The rest is just filler family bonding drama.

Oh and the last line in the movie was :
"No more pullups (diapers)"
"yup"

2012 should be stricken from the public record, and the film negatives destroyed.

Include "The Perfect Storm" while your at it.

I could only take about 10 minutes of it and then I resold it on ebay.

I couldn't get past the first 10 minutes of Perfect Storm myself, and I always try to give a film a chance, but just couldn't do it with this. I really should try though, that was like 10 years ago...

I would've walked out on 2012, but I admit to being a CGI fan and watched it for technical reasons, only to find myself trapped by the thought that I paid $12 to see this crap but figured hey - air conditioning and nice seats, so I stayed.

Try the Happening or Lady in the Water if you want something worse than 2012.
