(excuse grammar im on laptop in awkward position)
what are they trying to accomplish with north korea? by they.. the goverment, the UN, the world... It seems these bureaucrats, diplomats are always in really really really important secret, confidential talks; and yet nothing ever happens. It's like their only purpose is to solve a problem for the next few hours.. a few hours at a time. What about a long term goal? How long is this crp suppose to be going on? Is is just going to be a maginot line forever?

North Korea has long been decried as the "land of lousy options." If you are not going to overthrow the regime (not something we should do, IMO), then you have to deal with them, and unfortunately the North Korean regime has proven that they are not going to engage in negotiations honestly.
The best outcome for the foreseeable future is that, with China's help, we can get the North Koreans to trade away bits and pieces of their nuclear program (though probably never all of it) in exchange for aid. Or the North Korean government collapses from internal strife.

They're there to convince you of how important it is that your tax dollar funds their next secret, confidential talks.
Wouldn't be amusing if all that these secret, confidential talks were is huge cocaine hooker parties? That's why they all have to be in-person and can't be done via TelePresence.

I think they're just waiting for the implosion of North Korea. A military campaign is not really an option against a country with some nuclear capability.

The DPRK is one of the greatest negotiators we've ever seen. In exchange for doing less bad stuff, they get trillions of won in aid. Then they think of more bad stuff to do, and get more aid when doing less of it.

I'm pretty sure they got nothing besides some propaganda material.

North Korea has completed at least two nuclear tests. Although the explosions were small by any standards, this is a serious Damocles sword hanging over the heads of the people of Seoul, Tokyo and any other city within reach of North Korean missiles.

Like I said, you gotta make NK a parking lot NOW, not later.

Right.
How about a solution that works in reality and not just in simplistic action movies?

Because China will not stop giving them aid (at least, not to the point that the regime would collapse). If you acknowledge that, then the options are that North Korea negotiates exclusively with China for aid, or they negotiate with China and the U.S. (among other countries). The latter is more preferable.

Considering China has apparently signalled they have no opposition to the reunification of Korea, perhaps it's time.
