I just did a searc for macnn related stuff to see how efficient search really is since Im thinking of putting up a website and wondering how to get it seo. I remember that originally I never found this site through search engines. I only found it after I'd been on appleinsider for 5 years then eventually followed a back link here. I remember one time Back then, I couldnt remember the name of this site and was trying to find it on search and couldn't.

It seems even today this site is very poorly represented on google who everyone worships as the greatest of search engines. This seems odd since this site should probably be in the top 3 mac/apple related sites. There were sites not updated since 2009 showing up; there was old blog stuff about mac vs PC. ... but not macnn.

You have to type exactly macnn in order to find it in most cases. I typed in several key words and went 7 pages deep before I gave up.

If you search for :

Macs; macnn will not show up in the first 7 pages.
macintosh; 2nd page 1 time showing up.
iphone; not in first 7 pages
ipod; not in first 7.
iphone + mac; not in first 7
iphone forums; macnn doesnt show up, which is funny because other mac sites do.
mac forums; macnn doesnt show up.

considering all the mac, iphone tech support people get here among other things I find this a bit surprising. This is a one stop shop for everything apple related. Im losing my faith in google which has been going on for the better part of a year now, especially with the addition of this horrible instant on feature.

Some of you didnt read my post. thats ok though.

You shouldnt have to know the exact name of a website to find it since it's not always redundant. All sites should be findalbe by key words.

Comes up 3rd if you search "right wing mac forum".

Nothing on the first 5 pages for "left wing mac forum".
I have plenty of more important things to do, if only I could bring myself to do them....

When I find a thread here to answer and I need to google some detail, quite frequently the Macnn thread itself is on the first page.
The new Mac Pro has up to 30 MB of cache inside the processor itself. That's more than the HD in my first Mac. Somehow I'm still running out of space.

I actually noticed this too the other day. Which is weird since MacNN tends to be one of the more useful news sites for me.
