Is that even possible?

My Rogers' bill showed 33 text messages sent from Canada to US. I called Rogers about the discrepancy and after looking into it I was told that I would be credited for the amount involved.

And no, my wife doesn't have an American boyfriend. In fact, prior to the billing date she was away on a cruise off of Florida while the iPhone stayed here at home (in Canada).

At the end of our conversation (Rogers' representative and I), I was told to "keep an eye on my billings".

What does that even mean? It only occurred to me after our conversation that someone might be hacking our cellular signal.

Don't know...

I think the "keep an eye on my billings" comment was probably the reps way of saying "we're going to issue you a credit for this account usage even though we don't really believe you because we hear this kind of crap all the time; if you try to make a claim like this again we probably won't be so forgiving."

Just a hunch, as I've heard that type of line from Rogers before.

What gradient said.

Rep meant "we'll reverse the charges THIS time, but if it happens again, you'll be paying us for the texts."

What's the cost of 33 Canada to U.S. text messages anyway?

The cost is not the issue. The real issue is that someone other than the legitimate user of the phone is directing billing activity to that account. "Oh, don't worry-I'm just going to make a few calls that you'll pay for; nothing to bother about..."

Was the iPhone ever close enough to the US border that certain texts might have gone thru US cell towers? You'd never even know if was happening, unless you've restricted roaming...which leads to the question: have you restricted roaming? Might be a good thing to do...

Also, have you consulted the text conversations? Were those texts erased or can you still find them on the phone and match them to those on the bill? A little investigation might actually tell you what happened.

I'm about 6 hrs from the border.

Roaming has never been necessary and there's nothing on the phone that remotely suggests evidence of this activity.

I did not ask questions about/investigate the texts themselves. Should it happen again I'll do my best to have the rep assist me with that.
