Are there any new cards available for this machine? Will the new Rage Mobility 9700 work when it comes out?

Apple doesn't or hasn't yet allowed internal upgradability of graphics chips.

Is this actually possible on any Laptop, Apple or not? Didn't know that average Mr. Consumer could buy "Mobility" style graphics cards...

Only the latest PC laptops from companies like Dell or Alienware have a mini-AGP port and upgradable cards (Dell had this years ago but only for tech support). But right now there is no news on retail availability of mini AGP cards. You have to buy them from the PC manufacturer. We're still in the first generation.
I doubt Apple will allow future models to be upgradable. I think they should. They'd make some extra money by offering upgrades for people who aren't yet ready to buy a completely new laptop.
