I was torn between the Maccase 15" vertical sleeve, the Tom Bihn Mitre sleeve, or the Waterfield sleeve.
All of them seemed to be between $30-$40 so price isn't much of a factor. I really liked the Maccase sleeve but I can't tell how thick it is. The images almost make it look like a blow up travel pillow with about 3" of thickness. I'm trying to put it in a mountainsmith backpack with compression straps and I don't want something 4 inches thick once the PB is in the sleeve.
Any recommendations?

I love my Waterfield! I slip it into a standard backpack for traveling (airplanes) and it works great. I feel really secure with it. One thing that my son mentioned, that I had not thought of, though is that even though I am putting it vertically into a backpack, I should buy the horizontal version in order to protect the USB ports, slot load CD, etc. So I did, and I put it in the case latch side first to protect the latch. Thick enough to protect, but not too thick (not at home with the case now, so can't give measurements - sorry). Fantastic customer service as well! Good luck!

I second the Waterfield case. I bought two (one for my Ti and the other for the new Al 15" which I also added the flap). They are excellent sleeves although I find the velcro (the one without the flap) can get messy and tangled up sometimes. If you don't need to carry a whole lot of stuff, I would really recommend their Racer-X, excellent protection and offers enough storage for a few things. I also have the large Cargo and rarely use it for my daily commute to work since I got the Racer-X.

Waterfield gets my vote too. Wouldn't take my 15" Albook anywhere without it being in its waterfield case.

Thanks for the input. What drew most of you to the Waterfield over other sleeves? Just by looking at it, it doesn't seem like it has any features at the base level better than generic laptop sleeves.
I liked the Maccase because it had extra protection on top without forking over an extra $15 for it.

I've been looking around at sleeves as well and hear nothing but nice things about Waterfield.
Looking at their site, though, one question nags me. How waterproof are these things? I need to have something that will be very waterproof because my regular backpack is not waterproof at all.
Thanks!

Also, does anyone have a Timbuk2 or Acme sleeve? Thoughts on those?
