Our favorite peoples at www.appleturns.com recently suggested Tungsten as the replacement for the brushed-aluminum interface of current Apple software. It got me to thinking - what would the proper outer casing be for the PowerBook G5?

How about liquid metal? I would love a laptop made out of this stuff. Much stronger than ti and projected to replace depleted uranium for anti tank rounds. Currently used for golf shafts (total waste) and some knives (pretty cool).

If that's the case, then probably PowerBook in this material won't sell in tropical regions....

No, really!
..light (half the wieght of Aluminium) , ..strong (our bones are made out of it, after all!),
..very good thermal conductivity (similar to Aluminium -creams Ti, anyway),
..And what a unique look!
although, 'bonebook' would take a bit of getting used to!

Why would you guys even be thinking about what the g5 is going to be like. Apple has some serious problems on their hands, that they need to fix.

Marble stays pretty cool at very high temperatures and is hard to scratch. You can also us eit to light matches.

Stick with aluminum, but anodize it black. =)
Or offer a variety of anodized colors... Pure (silver), Smoke (medium grey), Charcoal (black), etc.
Still professional looking, but more unique.

Nah, marble's not a metal, but it's got all these... lines in it. Highly compressed limestone, I think.
I wouldn't mind a heavier laptop, but I'm He-Man and regularly carry my weekly Diet Pepsi requirement up the hill from downtown. Call me crazy, but a PB with 1/4 inch - thick walls, completely sealed, would be superextracrazygonuts. Heat CONDUCTS as well as convects. I wonder if there's some sort of funny physics-type word for the transfer of heat from a solid to a liquid - I mean, cuz convection is the actual movement of said liquid. I guess heat just conducts from metal to air and is convected away. There.

Recycled, super compressed buffalo chips would be practical, tough, light and inexpensive. Just think of the aroma as the CPU heats up. Ahhh the great outdoors. Just don't get it wet....Pardon me while I go take a dump.

I would go for Uranium. Glows in the dark (how cool is that?!)-thieves will think twice about touching it-and the PB has it`s own unlimited power source built in! 
What`s the much shorter life span of the owner against these advantages??

OK anyone want to vouch for CARBON FIBER? Great for that racing look...light....they use it on Boom Poles and Indy Cars, Hood and all....
Strong and Light weight, I can see it now...a G5 carbon Fiber Powerbook widescreen 17" or 15" with that glowing apple logo! Internals would be titanium based chassis or aluminum...
