Having recently picked up a 20" rev B iMac G5, I can't help but find it rather imposing on my desk.

I love the screen real estate but maybe it's because of it's thickness (the new ones are much thinner than mine), or because I'm use to using a 20" Dell display with a thin bezel at work.

I almost want to downsize to a 17" Intel iMac just for the simple reason I can connect a 20 or 23" Cinema Display to it. But I wonder how the 1.83 would compare to my 2.0 in terms of speed.

im thinking of ditching my pbook and getting a PPC iMac, but Im afraid the 20" will be too big. I guess I need to spend some quality time in front of both sizes before I make a decision. And is the speed difference between the 1.83 and the 2.0 very noticeable?

I have a 17", and where mine is situated, a 20" would be too big. I love the 17", not only for size but also for its value. I have the 1.83 core duo, though did have the 1.9 G5 for about a week before sending it back (coz the intels came out), and this core duo is much faster than the G5. THere are people left right and centre saying all different things about the speeds, but this core duo really does feel much much faster.

My parents have a 20" and love it. I do too.

I have two 20" Dell displays on my desk at work (one vertical) and actually wish I had a third.

Agreed. My 20" iMac G5 is too small.

If Apple doesn't release a 23" iMac Core Duo within a year, I'll probably get a 20" iMac Core Duo with an external 20" display.

I absolutely love the 20" screen on my iMac G5.

I work with 17" iMac G5s and 17" Studio Displays (w/ PowerMac G5s) @ school and it drives me nuts.

Yeah, love our 20" iMac too. I also thought it was rather imposing the first time I used it, but you learn to really appreciate the extra space (especially if you don’t run everything maximized).

I almost returned my 20 inch because I felt it was a behemoth, but after a few days, not only do you get used to it, anything smaller seems annoying. I think if you are like me and you upgrade from a small monitor (I had a 12 inch Powerbook) it takes a few days, but you don't look back.

Too small? I have two 20" displays and would like a third. You get spoiled after a while, that's for sure. Personally, I like the uniformity in screen size, except for the whole height issue (iMac taller than cinema). But the bottom line for me is performance: I would never downgrade from the 2 Ghz.

Having owned both 17" and 20" G5 iMacs, I find the smaller size of the 17" model a bit more convenient. That's not a knock against the 20" model. If money was no object I'd own 1 of everything Apple made

Wouldn't it be nice to offer the smaller 17" model with a higher res display like the recent 17" PowerBook? That way you get the smaller footprint and more desktop.

Now that my iMac has finally arrived, I can directly compare it to my old 14" laptop. It is pretty huge, however, when you're blind like me, that's a good thing.

i got a 20" iMac sitting not three feet away from another 20" iMac. both are Rev. As (one PPC, this one Intel) and the screens are big and beautiful. exceedingly bright though, fortunately turn them downa nd save a few years on the bulb hopefully

definitely a fan. not too big at all. too big if you try to use a safari window to fill up the whole screen, but have some other apps open on the side of one (Adium, Colloquy, Mail, etc. and it's fine.

At first you may feel like the 20" is too big, but you quickly grow into it.

I love my 20" iMac Core Duo, the screen is awesome. As deermatt mentioned above though I'd kill for a 23" or 30" iMac, man that would be awesome

I've got a 20" rev B and wouldn't want to go smaller. This is the biggest screen I've ever had, and am loving it. Photo slideshows look absolutely awesome on it.

Honestly, the whole unit doesn't even look that big to me anymore...

I have a 23" HD Cinema attached to my dual 1.25 Powermac G4 that I am absolutely in love with. I have decided, though, that I will replace it soon with a 20" intel iMac as soon as the pro-app support is there. The DVI out is the big thing for me. I am in love with my Cinema.

Funnily enough having my 26inch HDTV LCD very near to my iMac makes the iMac screen seem just right.

I agree with neilw though, photo slideshows look awesome on it. I bet my 8MP images look even better on a 23 or 30inch display though.... /me starts saving
