Now that there is a OS X compatible player (WMP9) can we visit http://www.MovieLink.com/ and download movies? (Or at least can we watch them if we trick the site?)

Thanks for your interest in Movielink, the leading source for movies delivered directly over the Internet. We want you to enjoy our powerful movie download experience, but first please make the following adjustments:

You Need Windows 98 SE, ME, 2000, XP

If you've made the proper adjustments, click here to go to Movielink.

Adjust this!

do we need to petition Apple to either get on board with MovieLink or create their own movie download service?

obviously, most mac users would get into an iTunes like service, and then they can put it on Windows too if they want.

$5 download rentals is a reasonable price. Blockbuster is already at $4.50. Netflix is a better deal, but only if you constantly use it. and this is better for mobile customers, or even just wanting to watch a movie in bed.

You can only use the service if you're from the US and using Windows.

oh, thanks for explaining.

even more reason why Apple should make iFilms download service.

anyone got a better name?

really they should change iMovie to iEdit or iDV or something like that and give the name to the movie download service (that will probably never exist). but that wouldn't happen because it would confuse the brand.

perhaps you are right that $5 is a rip off, when you can buy a dvd for about $15-$20, but the market this takes the place of is:

-Blockbuster video - 50 cents extra so you don't have to leave the bedroom...

-pay-per-view

-when you are travelling and don't like what's on tv.

i think it is reasonable for the space that it is filling. not reasonable for an ongoing, using it all the time movie service. netflix is way better there.

but you reminded me that i don't need this service, and will prompty stop thinking about it. thanks.

iVideo...

i didn't know that existed. that would be the perfect name. apple can just buy them out.

they are already copying the apple user interface from iPhoto.

but you know what, and this is probably what you're thinking already...

Jobs has said that video is not like music, and therefore he probably isn't considering this right now. maybe in couple years, but it's not at all likely right now, especially considering it wouldn't help drive any hardware sales, except maybe the notebook line. maybe, if they could market it as a mobile entertainment center?

Hmm, I got this message:
ATTENTION MAC USERS: We would like to introduce a Mac Movielink service, and would appreciate it if you shared your support of this initiative with Apple.
What the F*** does Apple have to do with "this initiative"?! If only I had a program that constantly reloaded the page with a Mac user agent....

good idea, by the way.

Look like they deal with Apple a little bit. In the URl for the error page I see WebObjects.
