Wil Wheaton is presenting at MWSF. I'm betting we'll see some type of Blog software.

Blogs are so last year. When will people realise that no one wants to read about their boring lives, or about their views on the boring lives of others?

blogs are the new new media. they are basically independent news media with peer review capabilities. A lot of blogs are boring, but the big ones are great. Apple has brought the creation of Music, Visual Media, Video, DVD and to some extent software to the masses. I don't see why publishing couldn't be next.

There are really viable options for blogging on the platform, so I have to wonder. Maybe this is why they're pushing RSS. Maybe they'll do built in photoblogging/videoblogging with iphoto/imovie integration, using your own apache server, and a dynamic DNS system. The pieces are all there, so they could do a really good blogging system. I guess we'll see if they do.

I agree with both of you... but it's easy to determine the difference between those blogs that actually contribute unique content and those that whine about their cameraphone and how Sally and Mikey made out at the movie theater.

I sure hope Wil Wheaton isn't being seen as the posterboy of blogging.

He's not speaking on behalf of Apple.

Seriously, they were all the rage for 8 months but unless you are a sexy 16 year old girl or stalking someone you ain't gonna get any hits.

Not true.

Blogs are currently creating a huge impact in the media and marketing world. Citizen publishing is changing the way brands are being built and how marketing messages are communicated. You as a designer working in publishing might be interested in some of these:

http://customerevangelists.typepad.com/blog/

http://www.gapingvoid.com/

http://sethgodin.typepad.com/seths_blog/

http://jstrande.typepad.com/blog/

The above blogs have up to 50,000 unique hits per months.

And your point is? Out of all of the websites in existence only a small percentage is of interest to me. That doesn't make me stop using the internet. It just means that I visit the sites I find useful. The same goes for blogs. What I gave you above was just a tiny selection.

By next summer people will be like, "blog? What is that?". It is a fad like boomboxes and torn jeans.

i read a blog about this malaysian girl in malaysia somewhere who is not really hot and is like 26

what makes her entertaining to me is how f*cking lazy and stupid she claims she is. i don't know how she does it but her posts are hilarious. she has no real life, no boyfriend or sex posts, no job of interest.

i think you're being close minded if you think all blogs are whack. you just need to find somebody you find amusing/interesting.

Way ahead of the curve their Apple.
NOBODY reads people's personal blogs. The only blogs that people will read are political blogs and blogs related specifically to a company or something.

"Hmmmmmaybe I can read about how Susie Q. spends her day in Arkansas!"

If I may add something, bloggers are now the fact-checkers for the MSM.

Oh yeah, Blogwave Studio works specifically for .Mac.

will this be tied into .mac? or will it be something seperate? It would be cool if it was sorta like RSS, getting updates from your favorite blog as well as posting to your own blog without having to go load up the site etc ... i dunno ... any details on the software yet? besides the predicted date of announcement?

Well he doesn't have one, but I'd be interested to read it.

Blogs are just like other sites: some are boring, some aren't.

I'd be more interested to know how many came to your blog a 2nd time.

BTW- iBlog has been made. It's by Lifli Software, and has .mac integration. It was a .mac bonus a while back.
