Apple
recently refreshed its Apple Watch band range, which it is calling its "Spring Collection," with a number of new colors, styles and materials. Chief among these is the new Woven Nylon range, which comes in at the same price as the fluoroelastomer Sport Bands at $49, in both 38mm and 42mm sizes. There are seven new colors to choose from, from which we picked the new pearl color to try out.
Apple says that every Woven Nylon band is made from over 500 threads of nylon woven in custom patterns. It adds that monofilaments connect four layers of the weave to create a single band in a way that creates a "fabric-like" feel. The end result is certainly very attractive, and we immediately felt that it gave our Apple Watch a nice little "reboot" in terms of how it felt on our wrist. In fact, from a short distance, the pearl-colored Woven Nylon band looks a little like Apple's more expensive steel Milanese Loop band.
As you can see from the photos below, the Woven Nylon band is immaculately crafted, and looks and feels like Apple might have even charged a little more for it than it has. Not that we are complaining at all with Apple pricing an accessory reasonably, which seems to be getting rarer these days. That it is priced the same as the entry-level fluroelastomer Sport Band might also be indicative of its target audience, however. Some have complained that the Sport Band can get too sweaty during workouts, but the Woven Nylon band has no such issues, as it is breathable.
We really like the new Apple Watch Woven Nylon bands. Combined with the Apple Watch's easy-to-use band interchange system, they are quick to pop in, and really work to give your Apple Watch a fresh breath of life. The other six colors include, black, gold/red, gold/royal blue, royal blue, pink, and scuba blue.
