According to the DiskCopy documentation, it's possible to create self-mounting images only by using AppleScript. I haven't been able to get that to work, even though I'm sure it's straightforward.

Anyone have such a script already written? Thanx.

Terrific.

Now, is FileSmiler an AppleScript solution?

(I'm also interested in learning how to do the trick with AppleScript, as well as getting a working tool.)

Without actually giving you any of my coding, I can tell you how to go about finding the information you require.
Firstly, Disk Copy has an AppleScript dictionary. Go to the file menu in Script Editor and 'Open dictionary...'. There are dozens of commands laid out for you.
Or (and this is how I started File Smiler), in Script Editor, hit the record button and do what you want it to do. Disk copy is recordable. I know you can't record making a self-mounting image, but there's alot there that recording will help you with.
