Two issues....

1. I am cheap...
2. Since I am cheap do I get 512 (extra) ram for my Rev A PB or Panther.

Thoughts?

RAM Does Not Require Panther.
Panther Does Require RAM.

Get RAM if the price is good now. Wait a while for Panther (deals)

RAM definetely, 10.2.8, works pretty fine.

"Panther is temporary-RAM is forever"!

More RAM gives you a noticeable speed increase; Panther still has some bugs that need to be worked out.

Wait for Panther to be tested by thousands of real life users-then buy (and enjoy).

That would be the best solution, wait for a new Panther Update so it may work better and it admin better the RAM

I was lucky enough to be able to have both:

-Got Panther with the up-to-date program

-Got RAM cause it's cheap now and it's always good to have extra RAM for when you need it.

However, if I had to choose 1, I would choose RAM.

RAM will make even an older computer feel fast and fresh.
