My ISP has just changed, and they, in their wisdom have blocked traffic on port 25, meaning that I can't receive email on the accounts from my own websites. I've tried speaking to tech support at my ISP, who are clueless, and I've also spoken to my host about opening up an alternative port for email, which they said isn't possible.
What can I do? These accounts are the ones where most of mail comes from. The webmail option isn't really an option, and I'd like to try and find a way to get past my stinking ISP and it's poxy port block.
I'm using OSX 10.4.7 and mail.app

Uh, port 25 has nothing to do with receiving mail. SMTP which is the outgoing mail protocol defaults to using port 25. If you meant you're having trouble sending mail that is another story. If you're having trouble receiving mail it has nothing to do with port 25 being blocked.
The easiest thing to do is use your ISP's own SMTP server as the outgoing mail server for these other accounts.

Yep, incoming POP3 mail comes via port 110; port 25 is only for OUTGOING, SMTP mail.

There is no way around it if its being blocked at the ISP's end. You either need a new ISP or you need to start using web mail.

I can't imagine why your ISP would bother with that. You might ask them...

I wish I could change ISP, but I live in a student flat and the property management company have us locked into using their broadband service.
