New release of Sprocket. We're at d5 now. The version still is "d" for development. I don't have time to completely test my builds so bugs will slip through, hopefully none too serious. Post bugs here and I will attempt to fix them within a few days.

I'm going to attempt inclusion of documentation from now on. If you have time, please contribute. It should help more themes make it to release.

Release Notes:
- New pxm# editor designed to reduce window clutter
- Source now can only be built in CW Pro7 in OS X
- Fixed bug with masks not being saved

The problem with malfunctioning scrollbars stemmed from a Sprocket bug. All saved pxm#s were saved with a fully solid mask, meaning clicks in the scroll track were interpreted as belonging to the scrollbar buttons. This release allows you to create proper masks for your scrollbar buttons.

I took a new approach to editing pxm#s. All open pxm#s for a file are displayed in a list. You can copy and paste the contents of the pxm# just as before. To close a pxm# and remove it from the list, select it and hit command-w or click the close button in the window. You can also use context menus with any list item. Three dots (...) after a resource name in the list means the contents have been modified. Just play with it, you'll get used to it. I've found it to be much more convenient.

Thanks for the great work.

The way pxm#s come up now is great. Really makes things go faster.
-----------------------
Would be cool if:

1. Doubleclicking on on the pxm opened the graphic editor of your choosing.

2. Drag and drop would be nice.

3. Someone used the source the author has so generously provided to add a ppat editor and a text color editor.

4. We could run color shifting applescripts on the open pxm#s (sort of like the way that other theme editor did). This would allow us to easily make color variations.

5. We had a second viewer window that showed what the alphaed and masked pxms look like on a background of your choice.

what? Does this mean i can go back and FIX my X-Grey theme?

the scrollbar buttons were the only thing that didn't work and i was wondering
why did aqua work but mine did not when I made the masks like they should
have been.

hmmm..... that was why i stopped theming because i thought it was
a layout resource thing and we would never be able to fix it unless
someone came out with a layout editor.

I'm glad you found this bug because now I think I'll boot into X and take look ; )

Thx!

I never got around to adding a proper plugin infrastructure. There's a half baked one in the source though. It's on the list and I'll probably add it once I build the ppat editor. If you wanted to add a few resource editor, you could just examine how I plugged in the pxm# editor, it's very modular and isolated, and do the same with your editor.

aaronhax0r sprocket is your code wonder? cool.

just to let you know there is STILL a mask saving bug
in vertical standard scroll bars ( IIRC I'm not in OS X right now )

the mask is being saved with 1 row of pixels STILL fully black
instead of what i actually pasted in.

OR

the mask is right but the temp holding window (the new feature)
is just not previewing the pasted in mask correctly.

i didn't have a chance yet to make sure which it truly is.

Sprocket is so cool! I'm thinking about doing another new themes on my own but hopefully I'll find time between my college and job

BTW, is ThemeShop a new competitor for Sprocket or they will work together?

Yes. Should be fixed in D5 though I'm double checking since Groovy might have had problems.

I've been noodling with sprocket to change a few things that have annoyed me about Aqua for a while and suddenly everyone in my office group is interested (all designers).

I was wondering if there is a totally clean reference theme with no Apple parts available to work off of?

Second sprocket question. Is there a way to make the main menubar transparent (like it is for a few seconds before the finder is loaded?). Playing with the menubar alpha doesn't seem to have much of an effect.

How exactly does this program work. I have opened the Extras.rsrc file with Sprocket and have opened the resources, but nothing happens. I can't alter or change anything. What is the secret to doing anything at this point.

Double click on the "pxm#" resource. Double click on anything listed there.

Have fun!

Sprocket does not attempt to provide graphical editing tools as Photoshop provides much more than Sprocket ever could.

1) Select pxm# in the left hand column
2) Double click the pxm# resource you wish to edit
3) Select the newly opened pxm# and hit command-C to copy
4) Paste into Photoshop
5) Edit
6) Paste back into Sprocket
7) Hit command-S to save
