I guess it's never occurred to me to try before, but I can't run classic on more than one account at a time. Is this normal behavior, & has it been that way all along, or do I have some sort of problem?

If my wife launches classic mode in her account, then I switch back to mine, the classic menu item tells me "Classic cannot start" and if I try to launch a classic app, I get a dialog that says "Classic cannot start because it is already running. Classic is being used on this Mac by the user xxxx."

Was 10.3 like this too? I just never noticed before.

Yeah, that limitation existed in Panther as well.
